| DVD Features and Extras Review Although I give the DVD a 7 out of 10 because of the way it averages out (and I round up), please keep in mind that there are only three episodes on this DVD. That should caution you to consider what you are buying. While this is the only way to get the Japanese language track, the Toonami Version DVD Box Sets are starting to look real good, even if some things were cut out. The extras featured here are already in the Toonami Box Set for Season One. On top of that, these extras are just not that good. If you've been only buying the Uncut versions, then you already have the IGPX mini-series episodes. The Movie Cut omits three minutes of footage, though the music is better mixed. The IGPX Video Game Trailer is hardly an extra, and it's probably available online anyway. mixed. The IGPX Video Game Trailer is hardly an extra, and it's probably available online anyway. Now, it would have been cool if they could have included a playable demo if you put the disc in a PS2 (though that's a bit more demanding to feature, I'll admit). But, really, these discs are looking more bare with every release. If you just cared about the episodes, you're still not getting a good deal, because you only get three episodes for the same price as four episodes in past DVDs, with better features. If you keep all this in mind, it's inarguable that these episodes are really good, and would still be a good addition to your collection. |
